Every premises we are watching, by stage: company formed 3,596, planning applied for 296, planning approved 255, newly registered 1,318, counted 7 Sep 2026, under New practices (Companies House, council planning records, the care register).
The premises with planning permission for dental use and no register entry yet, as the call list "Premises approved, not yet open", 122 premises counted 7 Sep 2026, with the council's decision, the site address, the applicant and a link to the council's record (council planning records).
Whether the premises belong to an existing practice, and how we linked them: a shared director, a shared controlling owner, the same registered office or a matching name, with how sure we are (Companies House, the care register).
Practices whose company took a secured loan in the last 90 days, as "Just took a loan", 130 practices counted 7 Sep 2026, and practices that changed hands in the last 6 months, as "Changed hands", 326 practices counted 7 Sep 2026 (Companies House).
Three things we can't tell you
When it opens. "First seen by DentalGraph on {date}" is when we first saw any sign, never an opening date, and some approved premises never open. The typical gap from the first sign to registration was 282 days where an existing practice was expanding (90 cases) and 374 days for a genuinely new practice (89 cases); measured by hand, 27 Aug 2026.
How many surgeries are in the drawings, or what will be bought. We hold the council's record: the address, the applicant, the decision and a link to it. The plans are on the council's site, not ours. The card below shows a row we would like to hold; today you read the application yourself.
Whether every application is a new practice. Council records also cover extensions, refits and shop signs at existing practices, and permissions pointing the other way — a surgery becoming a flat or an office. We read the direction off the council's own description and keep the call list to conversions TO dental use; the other directions are their own lists. Where we can match the address, the card names the practice; the description is on the council's record.

- The date we first saw any sign of that site: a new company at Companies House, a planning application, or a register entry. Every card says "First seen by DentalGraph on {date}. Not an opening date."
- How good are planning records at spotting a new practice?
- Not good enough yet, and we publish that: of 20 practices that registered as new, we had caught 0 from planning records first (27 Aug 2026). Planning records are best for what this page is about: premises that are approved and waiting.
- Do you cover new practices outside the UK?
- No. This needs company, planning and regulator records we hold for the UK only.
